Over the course of that campaign he improved so much that he was offered an extension to his contract at Rovers. However they seemed to prefer to bring in keepers on loan rather than give Mike a fair chance to claim the number one shirt for himself. Having been released Mike trialled with several clubs during the 2011/12 pre-season before eventually signing non-contract forms with Eastleigh but was released after just one game. However fortune favoured him as he signed for the Tigers within four hours!
