Those that do, and win it are treated to a pre-season play off match with the Southern League Premier Division Champions. Since I've been following the Tigers it has been sponsored by a variety of companies and the club has competed in the Westgate Insurance Cup, Larchimage Windows Cup, Errea Cup, Dr Martens Cup and Barclays Commercial Services Cup to name but a few. Our only success came back in 1956 against considerable odds after having lost the first leg of the two-legged final 0-4 away at Yeovil's famous sloping Huish ground. The second game at a packed Longlevens stadium saw City see off the Somerset side 6-1 to claim a famous victory. The last time that the Tigers reached the final was in 1981/82 against Wealdstone when the left back for the north Londoners was none other than Stuart Pearce. These days players and management alike see it as more of a hinderance than the chance to claim some glory and are put off by the prospect of a midweek game at Grantham or Kings Lynn in March and often meekly surrender at the first attempt.
