John Freegard - Forward

Debut : Poole Town (A) - 26th January 1991

Last Game : Worcester City (A) - 28th September 1991

£10,000 signing from Bath City along with Chris Smith in January 1990 which pretty much spelt the end of Graham Withey's Gloucester City career.

At Bath he'd formed a deadly strike partnership with Paul Randall that had netted 86 goals during their 1989-90 promotion season but struggled to repeat the feat in the Conference. The Citizen quoted him at the time as being made a scapegoat for their lack of goals at the higher level.

He was the first high profile player to leave the club during the fallout of the Les Alderman affair. Freegard rejoined his former club Trowbridge Town for £7000 after an orignal bid was turned down and his first match was against the Tigers in the League Cup in a game that the Wiltshire side won 0-1.

At the end of his careeer he played well into his forties for Corsham Town before hanging up his boots and becoming a regular on the terraces of Twerton Park, supporting the Bath City team that he had so much success with in his playing days.
