Matt Bath - Goalkeeper |
Matt signed for the Tigers in November 2001 after Matt Taylor returned to Newport County after his loan spell. Despite spending the past six years in the County League with Whitminster, he doesn't look out of place in between the sticks for City. At well over six feet tall, 25 year old Matt is more than useful in the air and his few appearances for City have suggested that he's made the step up rather easily. |

Mark Temple - Defender |
Mark is now in his second spell with City but has not played a competitive game so far this season. He is one of a large number of the squad to have previous experience playing for Brockworth. |
Previous Clubs : Gloucester City, Brockworth |
Neil Griffths - Defender |
Neil originally signed for City from Longlevens during the 1999-2000 season and went straight into the first team, with one of his first games being a man marking job on Burton Albion player/manager Nigel Clough. He has played for City in central midfield, at right back and now at centre back where he has been an ever present so far this season. He is also possibly the youngest player to ever captain Gloucester City, and showed his loyalty to the club when he turned down an approach from Clevedon Town in 2001. |

Will Steadman - Defender |
It seems as though Will has been around for years despite his tender age. He originally broke into the first team in 1996 and did well enough to earn a trial with Gary Thorne at Chelsea. However, ambitions of Football League success were scuppered and Steadman found himself back at Meadow Park. Before long he'd lost his place in the side and found himself shipped out to Cinderford Town where he gained some much needed experience. Now back with his first club, his effort and spirit can't be knocked, but he could do with a touch more finesse! |
Previous Clubs : Gloucester City, Cinderford Town |
Darren McCluskey - Defender |
Darren was a major signing for the club when he joined from Swindon Supermarine in October 2000. Not only did he score within the first few minutes of his debut against his former club, he also provided the solution in our hunt for a big, commanding centre half. He was also a member of the same City youth team as Will Steadman. |
Previous Clubs : Salisbury City, Swindon Supermarine |
Gavin Rae - Defender |
Gavin is a big, burly defender who has made the step up from the youth team. Although his appearances so far have been limited he is expected to make his mark on the first team before long. |

Previous Clubs : youth team |
Craig Temple - Defender |
This is effectively Craig's second spell with the club after making one appearance, away at Cambridge City several seasons ago. It seemed that he would make the number three shirt his own when he arrived but recently he has been nowhere to be seen. He seems too keen on attacking and finds himself out of position too often. |
Previous Clubs : Gloucester City, Brockworth |
Nick Delves - Defender |
Another of Brockworth's side from last season. Nick made a few appearances at the start of the season but lost his place to Darren McCluskey and has struggled with injuries ever since. |
Previous Clubs : Brockworth |
Steve Jenkins - Midfielder |
Steve is another local player who has experience playing for City in the Doc Martens League. He has been around for a while now and it's that experience that has given him the opportunity to add some flair to the City game. He has been used in a wide right position but more recently has formed a useful partnership with Dave Wilkinson in the centre of midfield. |
Previous Clubs : Gloucester City, Cirencester Town |
Dave Wilkinson - Midfielder |
Our very own Prince Harry lookalike. Dave used to be a member of the City youth team, but found himself playing for Brockworth when he was over age. Now 20, Wilko has surely been the find of the season and is expected to use his time at Meadow Park as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Manager Chris Burns describes him as a Nicky Butt type of player. |
Previous Clubs : Brockworth |
Gary Marshall - Midfielder |
Gary is a journeyman midfielder who has seen more than his fair share of clubs, and adds some vital experience to our very young squad. His worst habit is his all too frequent attacks of the red mist, how he's never been sent off for City I'll never know! It's hard to describe his best position because he seems to have played everywhere for us, except in goal. After starting the season as a striker he's now settle into a left wing back role, and he weighs in with a good return in goals. |

Previous Clubs : Coventry City, Swindon Town, C**tenham Town, Forest Green Rovers, Cirencester Town, Newport AFC, Yate Town, Melksham Town, Shortwood Utd, Uplands Utd, Cirencester Town |
Mike Cook - Midfielder |
Mike signed for City in October to add a bit of experience in midfield, but he seems to have more effect on the team as he takes the players for their pre-match warm up. He will be used more in a cover role than anything but has had a few appearances as substitute over the christmas period. |
Previous Clubs : Shortwood Utd |
Luke Prince - Midfielder |
Luke is best described as an exciting little rough diamond. After seeing him play for Forest Green and two or three occasions last year it was clear that he had plenty of talent but his small stature was always going to be a disadvantage. He joined up with City after starting the season at Bath and his pace and trickery have been one of the factors that has seen an upturn in City's form. His first goal for the club was a delightful lob past Dave Mogg on Boxing, hopefully there'll be more where that came from. |
Previous Clubs : Aston Villa, Forest Green Rovers |
Tom Webb - Midfielder |
Tom is a member of the current youth team, but his pacy, attacking play has seen him force his way into the first team. At just 16 years old he must be one of the youngest players currently in the Dr Martens League, but if he progresses as quickly as he has it won't be long before he makes a name for himself in the football league. |

Karl Bayliss - Forward |
When Karl re-signed for City in November 2001 it was possibly the catalyst that restarted City's season. Baylo is possibly the most consistent Gloucester based player that has ever played for the club, and will surely go down in the annals of the clubs history when he eventually hangs up his golden boots. This is now his fourth spell at Meadow Park after leaving for Clevedon Town in the summer, and it was seen as a major coup for the club when we secured the services of the leagues leading goalscorer. |
Previous Clubs : Cheltenham Town, Sharpness, Tamworth, Stroud, Gloucester City, Forest Green Rovers, Newport AFC, Gloucester City, Clevedon Town |
Andy Hoskins - Forward |
Local striker who is in his second spell with the Tigers, and enjoying an extended run up front after being a bit part player in his first spell at the club. Andy paid the price for his willingness to put himself about in his previous spell when he broke his leg during a game against Newport County. Hosk's greatest attribute is his fitness and makes up for his lack of goals with his sheer workrate and effort. |
Previous Clubs : Forest Green Rovers, Gloucester City, Brockworth |
Lee Smith - Forward |
Lee is the younger brother of Jamie Smith, and despite not posessing the talents of his sibling has improved his game 100% since he broke into the first team. The highlight of his season so far was surely his first senior goal against Cirencester Town, but the low point was when he accidentally broke an opponents leg in the home game against Rocester. |
Previous Clubs : youth team |
Jamie Smith - Forward |
Jamie first burst onto the scene three seasons ago as a raw, emerging talent under Brian Hughes. He had an unsuccesful trial with Aston Villa, and then a more succesful one in front of a judge, putting his career on hold for a while. At the moment he is short of match fitness but if he gets back in shape he has the ability to make a real big name for himself. |
Previous Clubs : Gloucester City, Witney Town |
Chris Burns - Player Manager |
Chris took over as player manager at City in the close season, taking over from Tommy Callinan, for his first taste of management. Facing a very tight budget he drafted in most of his mates from Brockworth and set about trying to raise their games to keep City in the Doc Martens League. Halfway through the season he looks to be succeeding in his initial aim. Of course, Chris is prolonging his playing career as part of a three man defence, and is ably assited off the field by Brian Godfrey. |
Previous Clubs : Sharpness, Cheltenham Town, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Swansea City, Northampton Town, Gloucester City, Forest Green Rovers |
Brian Godfrey - Assistant Manager |
Brian is in his fourth spell with City now. He was originally boss from 1988-91 and 91-94, then he came back as assistant to Tommy Callinan last year and now he has returned to lend his experience to Burnsy. |
